'Free Hugs' vs 'Free Slugs'?

As you've probably heard there are people who give free hugs to strangers in public places. They hold up signs and ask if anyone would like a hug. If someone held up a sign that said 'Free slugs' and offered free slugs to strangers would they be liable for anything if the starngers voluntarily let you slug them?

No, I don't think they would be liable, but just in case I wouldn't use real force on anyone, I'd just lightly "slow-punch" or "air punch" them or something. Or do a "slug-bug" on their arm. drive aroud in a VW with "FREE SLUGS" painted on the windows and have a guy in the passenger seat slug-bug anyont that approaches

Consent is a defense to battery. But consenting to someone knocking you out with a punch is probably not valid at least on a criminal basis.

That means, even though the batterer may not be held civilly liable for money damages, I think most states make it illegal to consent to being slugged across the chops and likewise, make it the crime of battery to do so, even with consent.

It is presumptuous to think that a person would feel empowered to hug strangers with permission.  This country is not a place where you would ever seek to test state of tort or criminal law.  The best approach is to avoid contact with all people not within your circle.  The legal system could easily there will be a trial and an issue was whether the hug consent was secondar to imtimidation as if you were black and it is kind of politically incorrect for you U.S. citizens to refuse the requests of black people as I understand your legal and social system.
