  1. anyone in the military can tell you that it is not friendly. getting shot is getting shot. nothing is friendly about it.

someone wanted to make it not sound horrible by terming it as "coming from a friendly"

anyone that fires at me is not a friend...

  2. Friendly fire received its name because it is just that, in the "friendly" part means soldiers of the same nation or allied nations.  So when troops are receiving "friendly fire" it means troops allied with them are firing upon them, many many times unknowningly because neither can get a positive identity on the others, but both started shooting at each other.

  3. Ok, simply.... so you can understand.

There are good guys and bad guys. They're shooting at each other. That's called "war." Because they're shooting at each other people on both sides get killed.

But bullets aren't selective. Once a bullet leaves a weapon, it goes wherever it's been aimed. It hits a guy from the other side, it's called hostile fire. That's when a good guy's bullet hits a bad guy or when a bad guy's bullet hits a good guy. With me so far?

But sometimes a bullet misses, Sometimes the target moves. Sometimes they bounce off stuff. Since the bullet doesn't care where it goes or what it hits, sometimes it hits a guy on the wrong side. That's when a good guy's bullet hits a good guy, or when a bad guy's bullet hits a bad guy. Since the guy who fired the bullet is on the same side as the guy the bullet hits -- and because they're supposed to be friends, it's called "friendly fire."

A bullet fired by your opponent is hostile fire.

A bullet fired by one of your comrades is friendly fire.

  4. If you are fired on by your comrades that is friendlyIt happen a lot of time during a war.It also happen with our police officers.we know it mostly end with the dealth of the other person, but it was 'friendly fire'

  5. It's called friendly fire, because it was fired by "friendly" forces.  Also known as blue-on-blue or fratricide.  It happens anytime you put large number of armed people in their field in a situation where hostile fire is possible or even likely, and you ask these forces you've put in the field to cooperate in doing something more than sitting in a firebase in a circle facing out.  Disorientation, lack of communication, lack of good intel as to where the enemy is and where fellow units are and the ever present fear that if you're slow to react, you might be dead before you get the chance are common causes of friendly fire.  In addition, with the very long ranges of some modern weapons, identification of targets as friendly or enemy is often very difficult, especially at night or in poor visual conditions.  Finally, sometimes weapons malfunction, or munitions do, and the result is a short round or a overshoot (or an outright miss) which kills friendly forces.  If the mistake kills civilians rather than friendly force4s, it's often referred to as collateral damage, which is also a part of every war and action ever fought, most likely.

  6. Good question. Can't be very friendly if you're shooting at someone.

  7. Its just another way of saying 'safety' scissors. They don't really protect anything its just a cover up for what they really do.

Safety knifes can kill you just like another KNIFE.

Friendly fire is just saying it was planned not war or anything so the media doesn't start about it.

  8. cause its shooting your friendlies

    simple maths really

  9. because, a friendly unit, ie a unit on your side, in your army, accidentally shot at another friendly unit

it wasnt done on purpose, which your 2nd edit leads others to believe

accidents happen. this way, it can be seen whther a mistake was made, or not.

  10. Yes, you ARE the only one confused. Fired upon by friendly forces. What's so difficult to understand?

  11. it's basically stating that they want to test their guns on anything that moves even though they have markings designating them as allies, fucin hilarious

chances 6 gave you the best answer and for the moron who is a top contributor in millitary where did you get that intell as that's way of the mark,a bet he plays warhammer

friendly fire in millitary terms is a blue on blue ,so much for advanced technology(it's funny how we use everything but our eyes in modern millitary aircaft, as that could have been avoided )

MOST FRIENDLY FIRE HAPPENS IN DAYLIGHT : FACT

do a recon for stats before and after WW2
