Question:

'Guyliner'?

Guyliner, aka eyeliner worn by men. Do you feel like males wearing makeup, "crossdressing", and other things like that are a step in the right direction?

On the basis of equality, I suppose so, but part of me feels like that's eventually going to put men into the same situation as most women-- where they feel like their natural beauty is ugly, where they feel insecure, and don't believe they're pretty unless they apply pounds of makeup. I think it's a positive thing that they'd feel more at ease to express themselves in this way, but at the same time, I think there would be negative consequences.

Regardless of s*x, what's your opinion on this? Self-expression, or just a cause of insecurity?

  1. I, personally, don't like men who wear makeup, cologne or other 'care' products.  That doesn't make them bad or wrong for doing it, but it is my preference not to be with a man who does...

Raised with brothers who didn't fuss with their appearances, I guess I have been socialized to believe that it is unnecessary and too self indulgent.

Interesting, too, is the fact that many men often criticize women for wearing makeup - that it is not necessary, or misleading...

  2. Guys wearing makeup is fine. At least as a guy I think it is fine.

  3. No I think it's a good thing - men are never going to be the smooth faced beauties that women are - yet they can still 'paint' their face to make it more interesting.  I think it will take the emphasis off 'covering up flaws' and put it on 'having fun with your appearance'.

And I love the term guyliner! :-D

  4. I don't like to see men wearing makeup.

  5. i hate to admit this but i am gonna be conservative about this. i cannot stand with make up. ideally even girsl should go without make up but as u said once u put make up on u soon feel like ur natural beauty is ugly and wearing make up becomes a habit.

however make up for man is just a phase. Men used to wear make up in the 70s too in the times of glam rock and now i only know one guy from those times who still wears make up.

  6. I don't care.

  7. It's self expression....let them do as they please...humanity lived thought the 80's hair styles I'm sure we will survive a little eye liner.

  8. I don't care what causes it, I just don't like it.

  9. There are no negative consequences to men wearing makeup.  Most men are insufferably arrogant (except me.  just because my p***s drags on the floor doesn't have me singing my own praises online.)  I don't think it's possible in today's culture to create massive, foundational insecurity among males via guyliner.  Even if women wear makeup that also isn't a 'bad' thing; provided that she isn't doing it for someone else.  Humans should feel free to dress in what ever way they choose.

  10. I am not sure about guyliner but I would look better if you would lend me some spanxs to wear !

  11. guys should be able to wear what ever they want. If I'm out clubbing I don't see any problem with men wearing makeup Look at Ozzy and some of those older rockers. Men have been wearing makeup for a long time. But there is a time and a place for everything. Even Ozzy doesn't wear makeup 24/7. If you work in a tattoo shop I'd say you can wear makeup all the time if you wanted. On the other side, if you go to like Donald Trump for a job, no way would you get the job if you wear make up to the interview. I say its just self expression weather its a guy or a girl.

  12. Guyliner= emo.  It's as much about cross dressing as having long hair or piercings.  It's a form of rebellion and self-expression.

Every generation has a trend that makes all the old fogies go wild.

  13. Guyliner (nice expression!), earrings, long hair, or even skirts on men, this is not only a question of equality but a problem of freedom.  Women or men - we all have been born with some feminine and masculine traits of character.  And everyone should be allowed to express all these traits of gender identity.  I am enthusiastic about everybody who is pushing the boundaries a little bit.  Being a crossdresser myself I fully agree if a guy is accepted who likes to paint his nails, puts on make-up or is wearing skirts and dresses.

By the way, you are right: crossdressing guys get vain like women about their beauty. Their problem is even worse: they need all this stuff (like make-up etc.) to turn themselves into a convincing girl or woman. For a woman it is not a must to apply make-up.

  14. idk, look at all the musicians(especially in the 80's) that wore make up.
