'I do not feel pressure', says Giants' quarterback Eli Manning – NFL News
With around six minutes left on the clock, Dallas Cowboys carried a lead over New York Giants on Sunday 34-22. As the time passed, the Giants began to accelerate. At that moment, when the anxiety was at its peak and a defeat would
have further aggravated the humiliation Giants were facing from the last four weeks, their quarterback Eli Manning was as cool as ice.
Manning initiated the final two drives, sending accurate passes and setting up correct plays, to overcome the Cowboys and snatch the lead from them. According to the quarterback, he likes being in such anxious situations where
the game is at stake. Such moments, he said, test the true talent of any player.
"I don't get nervous, I like to be in those situations. I don’t like always being down but I like when the game is on the line that I know I'm going to touch the ball every time, it's going to come down to whether I can complete
passes and lead the team down for touchdowns."
New York Giants drafted the quarterback in the year 2004. He has been a regular and a dependable starter for the franchise. This season, he has completed 303 passes of 489 attempts for 4,105 yards. He also threw 25 touchdowns and
12 interceptions, and carries a quarterback rating of 95.5.
Manning has pulled a total of six wins in the final quarter this season. He maintained that he is well-aware of his responsibilities and said that he tries to read the defence of his opponents and make plays accordingly.
After beating the Cowboys, the Giants snapped their four-game losing streak. They are now tied for first spot in the National Football Conference East division with the Cowboys. Both teams have got equal chances to enter the postseason.
Manning welcomed the victory and said that the players could relax now. He hoped for finishing the season strongly by winning the rest of the games.
"It's been a while since we've had that winning feeling, so it's good to have that in the locker room," Manning said. "Obviously, it doesn't mean anything if we don't go finish the season strong and win these next games. So that's
the mind-set. We can't relax now."
