What documents are acceptable to obtain this permit? Is the permit required of all tourists in Italy more than 8 days or for tourists in one city more than 8 days?

  1. I have travel to Italy many times and I have never  herd of any Permesso- the only time you Ned it is wen you are visiting for a longer period of time

  2. Look at this link

    http://www.stranieriinitalia.com/inglese...

  3. I didn't look at the site, but I think you can stay for a month with a valid passport and return ticket.  Getting a Permesso di soggiorno is a big hassle, and whatever the site may say, I doubt they mention that you have to get in line in the middle of the night to even hope to get to the window, and the constant changes in the regulations mean you never go just once.

  4. I don't know where you come from, but most countries can visit Italy with only a valid passport for 3 months (as a tourist).  Permesso di soggiorno are for those who want to work or study in Italy for  a long period of stay.

I'm American and have been living in Italy 8 years, and have a permesso di soggiorno for work reasons...but I work and have been here 8 years and not 8 days.
