"Management has confidence in me despite losses', Steve Spagnuolo – NFL News
As St. Louis Rams struggles against nearly every opponent they face in the current season of the National Football League, coach Steve Spagnuolo has said that the owner has complete confidence in him.
Rams are having a nightmare. This season is adding to their miseries with each passing week. They are disappointed on their failures, and frustrated on the inability to get back to the winning ways. Their attitude is justified considering the statistics they are bearing this season.
They had an unfortunate start to the season losing to Philadelphia Eagles 31-13. The second match, against New York Giants, did not bring any glory and they were down 28-16. Next was the turn of Baltimore Ravens to crush Rams 37-7 in the third week. The fourth week witnessed Washington Redskins catching up the advantage of facing a team that had performed below-par. Another defeat then 17-10 took their number of failures to four. Don’t forget, they were yet to win a game.
The bye-week did not help them, and a defeat against undefeated Green Bay Packers 24-3 took their losing streak to five. Dallas Cowboys extended that streak to six and overcame Rams 34-7.
Rams finally had something to cheer about in the eight week. They took on New Orleans Saints, and fortunately for them the result (31-21) emerged in their favour. The victory looked a stroke of look, as ensuing the win was Ram’s return to the losing track. Arizona Cardinals handed them seventh defeat 19-13 of the season. Rams had a close encounter with Cleveland Browns to get their second win 13-12.
The latest defeat came this Sunday at the hands of Seattle Seahawks at the Edward Jones Dome where Rams gave away an early lead and surrendered against the opponents 24-7.
Many questions have been raised about the performance of coach Steve Spagnuolo who is having his third season with the franchise. He has nine victories and 30 defeats to his credit. Following the recent defeat, he said that he met with Rams’ owner Stan Kroenke who, the coach thinks, has complete confidence in Steve.
"When I get an opportunity, I visit with Stan, but I don't bother him," Spagnuolo said on Monday. "We're here pounding away, he's very supportive. I love having him around and have a great deal of respect for him. He knows we're here pounding away."
With an average of 297.9 yards (191.3 passing yards and 106.6 rushing yards) per game, Rams are currently placed at the bottom of the National Football Conference West division.
