Can someone please supply a straightforward, reader-friendly, newbie-player style answer as to what this is.

  2. It is where they try to pass it as less as they can to waste time and win the game without any more threat

  3. Also known as the 'pick and drive' you pick it up and drive into the opposition line hopefully breaking the game line.

    It's a very low risk tactic but doesn't result in many points or an exciting game.

    A classic example of 'up-the-jumper' rugby.

    I support Munster who are masters of it, lots of people don't like it but I think it's brilliant.

  5. not passing the ball.

    it is usually played in the last few minutes of a game.

    if a team is winning by a few points and there isn't long left and they get the ball, obviously they don't want the other team to get the ball back and have a chance to score. so they minimulize the chances of mistakes by passing the ball as little as possible.

    in other words - sticking it up your jumper.
