For my A2 English coursework I have to write an essay comparing these two books. I havent got round to reading The Bell Jar yet but was wondering if anyone had read both these books and could just give me a little guidance as to how they are comparable? Or what sort of question I could use as the essay title?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

  1. You really have to read it; it's a great book.  The characters of both books are both dealing with mental breakdowns.  The Bell Jar, though, is autobiographical and a little more disturbing.  At least check out sparknotes.com.  Once you start reading it, though, you won't be able to put it down.
