Chennai is a state Capital of Tamilnadu and Hyderabad is for Andhra Pradesh.  Every City in India is unique and having its own importance one way or other way.  Chennai can not beat Hyderabad as there can not be any comparison.  Importance for what, supporting Central Government, having three wives by their Chief Minister, having his kith and kin ruling the state, Christian covertions in what context importance.  Chennai may submerge in the sea, no such threat for Hyderabad.
