I'm so excited! Ive been in so much pain this last week and finally today the doc told me I was almost 3 cm dilated!! I'm gonna be 37 weeks on Thursday, but my boy is already almost 8 pounds so she wants him out as soon as possible, so she stripped my membranes in the office today!! How long does it take for labor to kick in after this procedure? I had it done with my daughter, but that was 8 years ago so i can barely remember....

  1. Having your membranes stripped has a 50/50 chance of success. It worked for me twice and both times that I had it done I went into labor the same night. Good Luck & Congrats!

  2. my doctor told me to have take long walk come home and have rough s*x and then take a long hot bath.and if your body is ready then it would happen.good luck.getting my membranes stripped next week.

  3. Only your body knows.  If it is your second child until you go in to active labor- ctxs every 5-7 minutes lasting > 60 seconds... you will NOT be admitted to the hospital.  Sticking you in a bed isnt going to let gravity do its job.  Thats when you get the Pitocin and suffer more.  Walk around, have s*x, drink plenty of fluids.  It will happen.

  4. If you're almost 3 cm I'm suprised they didn't admit you already! Most doctors and hospitals will, because that is considered active labor. It shouldn't be too much longer after your membranes are stripped, especially being dilated like that. Maybe even tonight! Go for a walk and speed it up! lol Good luck and congrats!

  5. THERE IS A 60 PERCENT CHANCE THAT  YOU WILL GO INTO LABOR IN TWO TO THREE DAY. IF NOT LESS.
