Question:

3D face in "orb" photo?

Lately paranormal like activity has picked up at my house. I've noticed things for years, but my mother is seeing it now too. I took this picture 2 years ago while messing around dancing, and something strange showed up. It looked like an orb, but with 3D profile features in it. I didn't notice anything strange in person, but I've always wondered about what/who it could have been. With activity picking up again, I figured it couldn't hurt to ask.

I don't have the original picture after all this time, but I do have the crops I took to take a better look at this thing. I apologize for the low quality of the zoom ins. It is possible that I actually caught something?

I may have added contrast to this one to see the features better. No other editing done on either crop.

  1. It definately looks like a face of a man with possibly a beard and mustache. If it's not an orb, it is a cool optical illusion of light reflecting off of dust or something.

  2. I agree with the above, its so hard to pick any orb form up from a piece of dust, I'm sorry but i don't think you caught anything

  3. An orb is nothing more than light from the flash reflecting off an object outside the camera's focal plane.  Even most believers are on board with this.

  4. I think there is a face in it.  I do not care what people think about orbs.  I believe them to be one way a spirit can appear.  My father died in 2006 and an orb hovers over his house to this day.  I have taken pictures of his house in all seasons, and in all types of weather and his orb remains.  It moves but basically is always there. I have taken pictures during storms when there is a lot of wind and I can get orbs staying in the trees, like they are clinging to them.   I have also done a lot of work with orbs down in a park close to where I live that is known to be haunted.  I have been able to get orbs to get in the photo with me.  I stick my arm out like it is around a good friend and one actually showed up there.  You can say whatever you want.  And I can believe whatever I want.

  5. orbs come in many colors and sizes.... and I'd rather have one smiling than glaring ar me.....most people rarely  notice orbs,in my house there like Christmas balls .If there wasn't any,I'd be worried.I've counted up to35 in one room.an remember that the brighter the orbs energy the cooler the orbs activity well show .keep the faith in your picture taking!Blessed be.......!

  6. It is dust caught at just the right angle to appear like that.

  7. Congratulations, you just proved the existence of flying glowing mini-donuts.  I'm sure the ramifications are mind boggling.

  8. I agree that we could think we see a face on it just from looking for one..and I did too. What I think is unusual is that there's ANYTHING inside this orb or "dust particle".

  9. well it looks like an orb but a face no? i think you are hoping you can see a face in it so your imagination is creating it.. so you can see it.. if a spirit or face is not noticeable in a picture and you have to actually look at it and try to find it.. its not actually there you are jsut creating it.. but the orb is yes..

  10. I hate to bum you out, but few ghost hunting groups even mention orbs anymore. They are just too easily explained by optics, and I think a lot of paranormal investigators are kind of embarrassed by all the hubbub over orbs. I think they might think it makes them look naive, like they aren't qualified to do ghost investigations. Your pics look just like all the other orbs I've seen. Just flash reflections like the first answerer said. Sorry, I know this isn't the answer you were looking for.

  11. I don't see a face, though if I tried and used my imagination, I'm sure I could. But what you have there is a flash reflection off a dust particle, most likely. The flash reflects off some facet of the out-of-focus dust particle, turning the pinpoint of reflected light into a diffuse circle as it meets the lens. These optical artifacts can have concentric rings of bright and dark as well, which is what you see in your photographs. These flash reflections that some people call "orbs" are actually well understood by professional photographers.
