I am english and currently in the process of immigration. I had a baby 3 months ago and i would like to visit home to see the family with my new addition...

The trouble is, i have only been in canada for a year, and i need somebody to sign the passport application who has known me for at least 2 years and who is canadian resident. Just to confirm, i am who i say i am...

Obviously i havent known anybody for two years just yet...and the only canadian resident i know was actually English, but she has an english passport, which isnt accepted.

Isnt there anything i can do to get round this??? I need to get home this year and i obviously cant go anywhere without my child!!

Please help me out...and only answer if you know what your talking about...i dont need anyone wasting my time

Thankyou in advance

  1. I had the same problem when I moved abroad. Normally you can get someone who is "respectable", i.e. a teacher, boss or civil servant to sign. Best thing is to ring the British Embassy or Consulate and ask them who sign for you.

You're not the first person to run into this problem.

I ended up asking a teacher friend who we agreed had "known" me before I went over :-)
