  1. From the looks of it, it isn't describing a function at all, it's describing a set of numbers, (3n) ∩ (7 - 8n).


  2. 3n^2 - 8n + 5 = (3n - 5)(n - 1)

    The first terms (3n x n) = 3n^2

    The last terms ((-5 x -1) = -5

    The middle terms (3n x -1) + (-5 x n) =  (-3n + -5n) = -8n
