I'm doing a piece of work for my English class. We have to re-write a story in the 3rd person. I was wondering can the 3rd person be re-counting a story they had experienced? eg "the two men ran down the road towards the house." Or as it is someones as it is someones personal experience is this classed as 1st person??

  1. So, lets say I'm telling the story of me buying stuff at the grocery store.

I went to the fruit section and picked out strawberries, bananas, and watermellons.

In third person it would be

Nancy went to the fruit section and picket out strwberries, bananas, and watermellons.

    Then if I said

    You laughed at me.

    It would be

    Robert laughed at me.

    Get it?

  2. 3rd person is where you do not used "I" or "you" (or any form of the two!).  A personal story is typically told in 1st person with the use of "I", but you can use your name to make it 3rd person.

ex. I went to the store.  ->  Jimmy went to the store.

    Hope this helps!  :)
