  1. I have been keeping honey bees for several years now and i feel pretty confident about answering this one. Some form of benidryl or antihistamine will help with the itching and possibly the swelling if taken soon after the sting. You will receive lots of input about thinngs like meat tendorizer, tobacco, baking soda an other topical treatments. they are all just wives tales. I have tried and none seam to work. the venom of a wasp is different than that of a honey bee. a honey bees venom is an irritant used to defend the hive while a wasps venom is used to kill its prey. My best advice is to not rub or scratch and let it run its course. it is normal for it to be sore for a coupel of days

I have had stings itch and be sore for as little as a few minuts or as long as a weak

  2. I don't think the diahreha is from the sting. But watch him and make sure the swelling doesn't get worse. Especially enough to affect his breathing. Try to put some water then baking soda in the sting it should reduce the itch. Also you could give him a dose of Benedryl. It is available over the counter. It should help with the swelling and the itch.

  3. You can buy antihistamine syrup for children, I would try that.

  4. the sypmtoms are:

The severity of a sting is determined by a number of factors. The type of insect, the location of the sting, the number of stings, and the allergic sensitivity of the victim can all affect the outcome. Most people do not have allergic reactions to bee and wasp stings.

Medical problems from bee and wasp stings are broadly broken down into two categories:

Local reactions (only the part of the body near the sting is affected)

Immediate pain, redness, swelling, and itching at the sting site may occur.

A large (greater than four inches across) local reaction may develop over the next 12-36 hours.

A bacterial skin infection, although uncommon, may also begin during the first 12-36 hours (or even after the first few days).

These may cause an enlarging area of redness at the sting site. It may be difficult to tell a local skin reaction and a local bacterial skin infection apart.

Systemic or allergic reactions (parts of the body away from the sting are affected)

Hives (raised itchy bumps on the skin) and itching all over the body

Swelling of the mouth or throat or both

    Wheezing

Shortness of breath or other difficulty breathing

    Nausea

    Vomiting

    Anxiety

    Chest pain

Low blood pressure (weakness or fainting)

    Effects of Wasp Stings:

The most common reactions to a wasp sting are immediate pain, redness, irritation, itching and swelling in the local area. Toxic reactions occur in the case of multiple stings. In such cases the victims also suffer from vomiting, diarrhea, headache, hypotension, fever and in more severe cases, renal failure and convulsions. In addition, in certain individuals who display allergic reaction, the wasp sting may produce potentially fatal, anaphylactic reactions usually within 30 minutes. In such cases the initial effects would be rashes, nausea, abdominal cramps, palpitations and hypotension.

    Treatment of Wasp Stings:

Wasp stings treatment depends on the severity of the condition. It is important to remember that no anti-venom is present for a wasp sting. Majority of the medical treatment required is for the allergic reactions caused by the sting. If the swelling or the hives spreads more than 12 inches from the area where the wasp stung, then a doctor should be consulted immediately as this is a systematic reaction and could be fatal. Otherwise, applying vinegar (apple or white) on the area using a cotton ball is helpful. Ibuprofen is suggested as over the counter pain medication. It usually works well and quickly reduces pain and swelling. Antihistamine creams available are also very helpful.

    Wasp Nest Removal:

Wasp nests can be aerial, on the ground, underground or in a cavity depending on the species of the wasp. One of the simplest methods to remove the nests is chemically. Carbamate or organophosphate based chemicals are recommended.

Alternatively, the nest can also be removed by any of the following methods:

Place a large plastic bag on the nest and break the nest into it. Leaving the bag in the sun or drowning will kill all the wasps.

Incase of nests on the ground, place a clear bowl over the nest and press it into the ground so that the wasps cannot escape. As the wasps do not dig a way out, they will starve and die in a few days.

In the United States, specially adapted vacuum cleaners are available using which the wasps can be vacuumed out.

Non-chemical wasp traps are available that attract the wasps away from sensitive areas.

However, it is always advisable to hire a professional from the pest control company to remove the nest
