ok American have SHORT -term memory. 4,000 people died in the war in the last 5 years. And now we want the troops back home. They do need to go home with there families but if you put it this way.....in the 1950s when the Korean civil war was going on for 3 years..there were 54,000 U.S troops died. And now we are complaining about retaliating. i mean come on American have SHORT TERM MEMORY.

  1. It's difficult to gauge how much the reduction in casualties can be traced to advances in medicine over the past half-century. It's also important to recall retaliation has nothing to do with Iraq. None of the 9/11 hijackers were Iraqi. Most were from Saudi Arabia, a country that we did not invade.

The cost of the war in Iraq cannot be measured solely in the military fatalities. Economically, the Iraqi war is costing about $2 billion a week to fight. Korea was less expensive because the US was part of a UN coalition.

Lastly, it is possible that the US presence in Iraq is actually hindering negotiations among Sunni, Shiite and Kurdish forces.

  2. first you might want to get your facts straight, it was 36000 troops that were lost in the korean war(check the link).  though 4000 is tiny compared to that number, is this your way of justifying the death of 4000 men and women?  no one has short term memory, we remember all fallen heroes and will fight just as hard for 1 as we would thousands.  please stay in whatever country you're from and stay away from america

  3. What about the one million Iraqis that we've managed to slaughter in these five years? Do their lives count?

  4. What does Short Term Memory have to do with US casualties that die in wars?  Every war has POW's or casualties, and are unavoidable in most instances.  I'm not against the war one bit, have served this country proudly in the US Army and will definitely protect it like our brothers and sisters are doing overseas.

Most of the so-called citizens of the US that badmouth the conflicts are either delusional about or don't know that when you sign up or get sworn into the military, that it's done with your own free will and that the government does not force you to do so.  If I went into combat and died, my message to my family and friends would be that it was not in vain and that I fully knew that death for my country could occur at any time during combat, because every conflict has a good reason for the US to be there.

It's disturbing that there are citizens in the US that dress like our enemies (AlQaida) when professing their hatred for George Bush and protesting against the conflicts.  Also, when they say "we support the troops", but proclaim that "military recruitment and war is illegal", how can we believe their "support", especially when they verbally and physically attack law enforcement, gold star and blue star parents when practicing civil disobedience.

The liberal extremists are costing the US so much in tax money when extra law enforcement is needed to control them when demonstrations occur.....
