  1. One of the more frequent complications of surgery is excessive bleeding. Aspirin decreases platelet aggregation and therefore the risk of bleeding.


  2. Aspirin messes up platelet function, so you're less likely to clot.  Acetaminophen does not do this.

    Clotting is pretty important in the surgical setting.  You should see what happens with anticoagulated patients.  It's a mess.
