I'v decided to put one of my subs back in my car and the 4 Gauge cable isn't long enough to reach the amp. So my question is can I extend it. What can I use to connect two bits of 4 gauge?

Thanks

  1. you can use a distribution block and add on the extra cable

  2. use a 4 gauge coupler. http://cgi.ebay.com/Stinger-4-Gauge-Powe...

They're cheap and they work very well. They even come with heat shrink tubing to cover it.

  3. i would suggest buying new longer cables, using two lengths of cable with a connecter can reduce quality, also it looks a tidier installation

  4. you only need such a thick cable if you are running a massive competition amp, 1000wts rms plus. average car amps under 800rms run fine with thiner 8 and 10 gauge wire that are far more affordable to get in the needed length

make sure the whats you are taking into cosideration are RMS(sustained) and not PEAK(momentary) only 1000 watts RMS  needs such thick wire.
