Watch the Tyson vs Buster Douglas fight if you want to see the best way to beat Tyson.  Buster Douglas fought a near perfect fight, slipping up only in the 9th round, and finishing him in the 10th.  Lennox Lewis vs. Mike Tyson is another great example of how to beat a prime Mike Tyson.  They both used their jab to stay away from Tyson's power, and kept applying pressure.  Beautiful demonstrations from both Douglas and Lewis.

Evander Holyfield did the best job of taking Tyson apart.  Douglas is often given a lot of credit because he's the first to do it.  Evander did admit that he  had the same concept in mind.  However, I think Evander perfected what Buster started and it was HE, not Buster, who spelled the beginning of the end of Tyson's reign of terror.  

The reason I credit Holyfield is because he actually "Beat Mike Up".   Buster took him apart too but Tyson was "Far away" mentally before the fight began.   Taking nothing from Douglas but I always felt Evander would have a much better chance of beating a "Peak" Tyson than Douglas would have.  Tyson bounced back well from the Douglas defeat because, I think, deep inside, he knew he would not be on top for long to begin with.   He behaved as if he felt  "Losing" would free the grip his "Family (Givens, King and Co.: Bunch of Phoney Parasites).  He didn't throw the fight obviously, but losing didn't seem to bother him much.  He had FAR more pressing problems.

Against Holyfield, Tyson didn't expect ANY of what Evander brought to the table.   For starters,  from the Very Beginning, Evander showed NO FEAR What So Ever of Tyson.  He KNEW he could beat Mike.  

Douglas did a good job but he just "WON". He wore Mike down.  Evander did EVERYTHING to Mike that he was accustomed to doing to everyone else.   Remember the elbow Mike hit Michael Spinks with?  He knew he didn't have to because he had the fight won already.   However, he just WANTED to show Spinks "This is MY ring,  I can treat you any way I WANT".  

Evander Butted, Pushed, Shoved, Punched on the break, Tied Mike up.  Everything Mike ever did to anyone was done to him by Holyfield.  Remember when he Terrorized Tyrell Biggs?  In round 5 Biggs was hugging Tyson because he didn't want anymore of the "Body Raking" Tyson put on him.  The ref broke them and Tyson purposely REACHED OVER THE REF and Punched Biggs again.  He TOOK HIS HEART.  

Evander Did Everything to Tyson but everyone kept thinking of his "Church going image".   People were mesmerize by Holyfield because he's a very religious man.  It was hard to imagine a man like him doing the things he did in the ring against Tyson.  

Tyson was simply BULLIED.  He was so frustrated and taken out of his game that he was lost.   and Evander Chipped away at Mike until Mike just didn't want anymore.  

The other way to beat Mike is to take the fight out of him before the bell.   ALI would have been a master at this tactic.   All the others  (There aren't many)  would have to do it the hard way.

If you have the heart to do it  and are quick enough a fighter with decent boxing skills, a decent chin, and average power you can beat Tyson

Trick him, and make him angry, and throw good combos. By outsmarting him, he will become angry and throw wild punches. When he comes in wild, be ready with quick combos and push him back.

As for making him angry by outsmarting him, you may lose an ear, but he'll get Disqualified and you will still win the fight right?!

Fight him mentally as well as physically. A lot of Tyson's fights were ended before the opponent even got into the ring, cos they were scared of Tyson and his reputation. Don't concentrate on how fearsome he his or how hard he may hit, cos that will beat you quicker than anything. Concentrate on your strengths, and how you would beat Tyson. Don't be afraid of his rep or the hype, but look at him as just another opponent, a man made of flesh and bone, and try and stand up to him, and take the fight to him. Buster Douglas and Evander Holyfield did, and both stopped him. Bully him and rough him up in the inside if you can, and if you think you can get away with it. Holyfield, a notoriously dirty fighter, did this in the first fight, and Tyson started complaining to the ref about it. The bully was being bullied. Tyson lost his focus, and mentally went to pieces. Holyfield, having spotted the c***k in Tyson's armour and penetrated it, finished him off.
