Question:

4 Year Old Boy's Room?

My son loves pirates, superheroes...He's not big in sports, space, or animals. I need a creative idea for his play room and want to make his furniture work with the theme. I will paint both the walls and furniture...maybe even hang things from his ceiling. Here's the thing. He has a 4 ft tall shelf and a few foot tall shelves that I want to blend into the backgroud. For example, painting the wall to look like a train tunnel and the shelf to look like the train. Please, does anyone have ideas? I only have two weeks to finish it while he's gone and I want him to feel special since we had another baby. Thanks!

  1. Well google pirate rooms or superheroes. I do have a lot of suggestions, but I can't really explain them unless I'm in the room itself. Sorry but just google or look at some stuff at home depot and see what you can come up with, they also sell home decor books especially made for kids' rooms. Well good luck.

  2. make it look like the railroad

  3. www.RockYourWall.com

has a lot of cool things like Pottery Barn Kids for a lot less money! Colored magnetic dry erase tiles, cork tiles, accessories and so much more to create a custom style tile bulletin for him to draw on and show off his artwork. Very cute and trendy!

  4. lots of ideas

    http://boysthemebedrooms.com

  5. you can try the Sticklers website, they have fun themes for little boys rooms

  6. If you do pirates get a wall mural of a a pirate ship, get a "treasure chest" for his toys and have a put doors on the book shelf and paint a pirate flag on it.

  7. I would go with the whole Pirate idea, because it chains onto a whole bunch of Ideas. Some things you could put in his room are

    framed maps of the world

    sail boats/pirate ships

a pirate flag and such. im not too much of a crafty person, so good luck :P

  8. That is the sweetest thing ever!

First I think you need to stick with a theme, that will help you from there.  I think trains would be so cute. Maybe you could do planes, trains and automobiles.  That way each wall is something different.  Hang airplanes from the ceiling, do your train bookshelf with a reading seat, and get a car bed to house toys or bean bags.  Budget of course is going to be the issue.

    have fun!

  9. What about doing one side for the pirate play and the other for superheroes. I think that would be neat since he likes both a lot.

  10. i dont know but you coulg look in lilly lavern meg to get some ideas or look in to babies are us! hope i could help

  11. My suggestion is to pick a theme that will grow with him.  Do not do Barney/Elmo etc.  I would paint most of the walls neutral, and possibly one accent wall full of color, or a mural.  Trains/Cars/Airplanes sounds like a good theme, and will grow with him... well for as long as he should need a playroom.

Good Luck with your baby and doing your son's room!
