ok so I have a new baby cockatiel have handraised 2 before so i think im doing ok this one is alot more scared of me as breeder didn't get her out of the box till she os 3 weeks she will be 4 weeks old tomorrow. will she come round? she seem to be starting too. any! today i moved her into a cage with a low low perch and compfy stuff on the bottom and nibblies and toys to play with but i have one problem, my 4 cats, constantly trying to get at her, she is in a cage on the bench, and keeping a 3 month old kitten with lots of engery off the bench is proving impossible i was keeping her in the bedroom but it was just to cold in there ad when ever i get her out to "bond" all the other animals decide they want to bond to so everyone jumps into my lap for pats im hoping they get over it the 2 older ones have been around birds before so pretty much ignore her I have a handraised lorri inside to and they were hassling her a fare bit but now they ignore her, will the kittens learn to leave her?

  1. I don't think the bird will be safe around the cats and dog.  One of my birds was killed by a dog and I would never leave a bird, even in a cage, unattended with cats and dogs around.  The kitten might leave her alone, but it is in a cat's nature to hunt.  Is there anywhere in your house that the other animals are not allowed, like your bedroom?  You might also want to try a cage that hangs from the ceiling.

  2. Kill one of the cats as punishment for attacking the bird in plain view of the other cats. They wont touch the bird afterward.

  3. plz dont listen to the idiot (Gibbons who said kill one) my kitten does the same thing and i have 2,  3 month old cats and 3 2 motnh old cockatiels

  4. I think that if you keep telling them that it is bad and supervise them properly they may leave her alone. I'm not sure though, as it is their natural instinct to hunt birds and small animals.
