Tomorrow I'm ordering a chilean rose tarantula and I was just wondering how does it come like in a cardboard box or something, and is it going to be safe traveling over a thousand miles by mail. It's just a little concern of mine. I would get a local one but I'm boycotting pet smart (see video on peta, it's really sad) and Pet co doesn't have the chilean one, I don't trust them anyway when it comes to animals, it's just a good place to buy pet food.

  1. The way it is packed would depend on the breeder or dealer. I have seen them in small containers such as deli cups, inside an insulated box packed with shredded newspaper. You should have know worries unless the weather is extremely hot and the package is left in the heat for too long. Just make sure someone is home to accept the package. But you should be fine. I shipped a tarantula and several scorpions from Texas to Virgina once in the middle of summer and had no problems. And any reputable breeder or dealer will know what they are doing.
