directions: find the slope of the line passing through the 2 points

1. (3,4) and (6,9)

2. (-2,7) and (3, -8)

3. (5,10) and (5,-2)

  1. the "y"s are the y axis values from both your points

and the "x"s are the x axis values from both you points

to find the slope of the line passing through 2 points:

    (y2-y1)/(x2-x1)

    (y2, y1, x2, and x1 are all varibles)

here is how to do your first problem:

    (9-4)/(6-3)

    slove for the slope

  2. I'll help with one and you can use it to help with the others :)

    4. (-3,-6) and (8,-6)

    The slope formula is (y2 - y1) / (x2 - x1)

Difference of y's divided by difference of x's

    (- 6 - - 6 ) / (8 - - 3)

    0 / 11

The slope is zero so it's a horizontal line.

If the slope formula gives you zero in the denominator, then we say "no slope" and it's a vertical line.

    Good luck to you !

  4. Formula for slope is (y2 - y1)/(x2-x1).

    1. (9 - 4)/(6 - 3) = 5/3

    2. (7 + 8)/(-2 - 3) = -3

    3. (10 + 2)/(5 - 5) = 12/0 SO this line is vertical.

    4. (-6 + 6)/(8 + 3) = 0/11 = 0 SO this line is horizontal.

  5. Use the general eq m= y2-y1/x2-x1
