ok i since the end of school for me (june 18) i've only gone to the gym once and the only exercise i've done is like walking. in june i ran an 8:40 mile....but the only exercise i got was from my gym class 3x a week (but i had a really hard teacher so i actually count it. i improved my mile time by 20 seconds in his class which proves it) ...so i never really was that in shape in the first place. but today i ran 4 miles in 50 minutes...i felt like i could have run longer but i had to go home cause i didnt want my parents to get worried cause i was out so long and usually i dont run for that long. ok is that decent? 4 miles in 50 minutes??? i ran up and down the same street which is .5 miles each way (according to map quest)..........btw im 15 and i'm 5'2 and 118 lbs so im not some obese middle aged person jsyk....

  1. so your pace was12.5 minutes per mile.

i'm 14 and it took me 36 minutes to run 4 miles in my road race.

  2. It really depends on your age and gender.  I just turned 13 (i'm a girl) when I ran a 4 mile road race in 27 min.  I got 2nd for my divison and I got 6 place in females overall it was a smaller race of about 500.

    I hope this helped

    keep running,

  3. 4 miles in 50 minutes is not a good time, especially if you run a mile in 8:40. You should be able to run a longer distance at a little bit slower pace than your mile pace. Because its a longer distance, you should be running 1-2 minutes slower per mile. Meaning that you personally should be getting around 40 minutes instead of 50 for 4 miles.

  4. It's fine but don't join the track team. Just be glad your in good shape, I know alot of people who can't run 4 miles.

  5. Every one has their personal records, and their own limitations.

Asking us if that's "good" is somewhat loaded. You should ask yourself "is it better than what I've been doing." Also, what's the terrain like.

I run fairly infrequently. My normal course when I do run is a little over 5 miles with a bunch of hills (I'm in central PA, if you want to look at the topography). Generally that loop will take me about 40-45 minutes depending on my pace.

Back in high school, my best mile time was 5:55. Now my mile is no where near that. I used to run every day in school, now once a week is a rarity.
