My 4 mont old daughter hasn't taken one nap today and she's crying alot.I went and took a car ride and she still didn't fall asleep.I rocked her she fell asleep but immediately as i put her in the crib she woke up.She usually takes at least 2 naps everyday of 2 hours. If I'm not holding her or playing with her she starts crying very loudly.Ive tried feeding her but she doesn't want it...could it be teething??? I mean I don't think so .Cheeks have been red since yesterday..but might be the sun. When i give her my finger she chews on it very hard and she's drooling alot?Any ideas?!?!

  1. It could be teething. Teething starts a while before you even notice a bump in the mouth. Try baby orajel, a tiny bit on the finger tip. Try motrin before bedtime. My kids always wanted to be held when they were teething for some reason that made them feel better. Something about mommy's arms.

  2. If she's chewing and drooling, she's probably teething. My daughter just started teething and takes less naps. There are these amazing things called "teething tablets". You can get them at Wal-Mart.

Look forward to a good nights sleep tonight if she hasn't napped though. =)

  3. Babies are on there own schedule.  My baby is 7 weeks old and sometimes does that. He surprised me even yesterday he woke up at 12 noon and didn't sleep until 10 at night.  Babies just have there own schedule.

  4. "When i give her my finger she chews on it very hard and she's drooling a lot"

Her gums hurt.  She may be teething though you may not SEE anything come through for another few months.  Buy some teething rings, wash them, pop them in the fridge and let her gum on those.

This is not a sign of hunger, she does not need solid food and should not have solid food until 6 months.  Don't let anyone tell you different.
