My 4 month old son has always been very "talkative" He was imitating alot and cooing. Now, last week, he started squealing, alot. Instead of talking as much, he would squeal. This week, he started making a very repetitive oooo-oooo-, ooo-ooo sound! hard to explain, but it is the same sound over and over. IS this normal? what is your experience? I assume he will have a new sound next week. Just wanted to hear others experience. He was also just diagnosed with mild Torticollis. Any of you know about it?

Thanks so much!

  1. my son also started making a squealing sound like you describe around 4 months old. im sure he will be making plenty more 'weird' noises as he gets older and experiments with sounds trying to learn how to talk. it so funny though!

  2. Very normal, my 5 month likes to change sounds all the time and she will stick with it for a week or 2 then switch. She likes to copy sounds we make but when she is done with one she wont copy that one she will move to another one. Such as squealing or sticking her tongue out and making a noise i cant explain lol but she loves being heard. :) Babies are so cute!

  3. Wow, I just asked my husband that same thing this morning!!! My son also 4months is doing the ooo oooo oooo, he tucks his lower lip in his mouth and does it!!! OK...apparently it is normal then...it is really cute, huh??

As for the torticollis...don't worry, they said my son had it too. Just keep working on tummy time and make him look in the direction that his head doesn't want to turn to. Also lay him on his back and with your left fingers under his vertebrate(sp?) and right hand on his forehead, slowly turn is head to look parallel to his shoulders, then switch and do the other side...we had one physical therapy appt and this is what they told me to do!! it helps!!
