on my left side starting from my lower cheek(buttocks) down to my calf. It hurts to lay down, stand up and put weight on my left side. I can't lay on the floor to play with my baby. I have tried stretching it and much as possible, with some relief to sometimes more pain.It feels like a constant cramp or charlie horse. Or possibly a pinched nerve. I'm think maybe its my sciatic nerve? I heard this can cause a problem after child birth, or heavy lifting. Ive always had an issue with my hip. But now its REAL BAD!! Has anyone had this problem, does it sound like my Sciatic nerve, and if so , what can be done for it. I plan on going to a DR for it. I just want to hear if anyone else has had this. Thank you.

I also posted this in the HEALTH>PAIN section, but I think that section is DEAD!! Noone is answering anything lol. so I thought Id try my luck with you ladies, since my pain really started after the baby. And you gals are cooler :P

  1. It does sound like it's your sciatic nerve.. rest, ibuprofen or pain meds.. that's pretty much all they do. If it's really bad they can do physical therapy or surgery.

  2. It could be your Sciatic.  Its probably the most affected nerve in the body that affects your daily life.  With all 5 of my pregnancies I went through h**l with that pain and it usually didnt go away for a while.

What I found that helped me was HOT showers, hot packs, stretching the lower back as much as possible.  lay on your side, and place a small "stress" ball, or anything small bout the size of your fisted hand, and put item between your knees and squeeze.  the squeezing actually is a stretch of your lower back muscles.  it's not goin to magically go away, but if you keep up with it, It will lessen the pain.

Till you are able to get in to the doctors, you should probably get your partner or other older kids to help out with lifting things.  Simple day to day activities will be painful.  i know for me, if it fell on the floor it got left there till someone else could grab it for me.  Oh sitting for long periods is not good either, packing weight is a no no.  if you take daily walks, (and you should be), use a stroller, no packs, front or back style.

and just another thought, maybe you should look into blood clots since you said it was just your butt on down in one leg.  Or possible a pinched nerve.  either way it's affecting your daily life, so making a Dr's appointment right away would be best.  You cant really enjoy your lil ones if you are always in pain and cant keep up with them!  good luck  hope it gets better

  3. did you get an epidural?  sometimes they can mess up your back real bad.
