  1. 1)   Bird brained

    2)   Brown nosed

    3)   Chinless wonders

    4)   Scroungers

  2. 1) The Bowler Hats is the ultimate fashion accessory.

    2) Free Masonry is not sinister or a Secret Society. It is just a society with secrets.

    3) I like Oranges.

    4) I enjoy walking in step to rousing brass band music.

    I'm clutching at straws here.

    It's just as well you didn't stipulate that the reasons had to be good or convincing.

  3. Who is "we"?

    Loyalists or Tories sided with the Crown during the American Revolution because

    1) they clung to the familiar rather than embrace the new;

    2) they were often upper and middle class merchants and professionals and feared financial loss;

    3) In the South, they refused to join the revolutionary cause because some of the American revolutionary leaders in the southern colonies had earlier been corrupt government officials of the Crown;

    4) Scottish Jacobites refused to join the Continental Army's fight for independence because part of the condition of their pardons after being transported to the American Colonies after the Battle of Culloden had been to sign an oath of allegiance to the Crown.  Most Scots, however, with some notable exceptions, remained unusally loyal to a government that they had moved to the colonies to escape.

    But I suppose you weren't referring to those Loyalists, but to these:

    ---Ulster Loyalists' allegiance to the Crown is balanced by their militant opposition to the Irish Republican Army and Roman Catholicism. Maybe they look good in orange as well.

    ---Scottish Loyalists tend to be Union members opposed to an independent Scotland and the Scottish Nationalist Party as well as Roman Catholicism and the union of Ulster and the Republic of Ireland.

    ---English Loyalists are similarly devoted to the unity of the United Kingdom and against a United Ireland.

    ---Welsh Loyalists tend to support far right wing causes.

    Clarify your "we" a wee bit.  Presumably, you mean citizens of the United Kingdom, but then on the other hand, you might be a Basque loyal to Spain.

    In the meanwhile, as an American cousin, I'll jump to the conclusion that you wish to remain loyal to the British Crown:

    1)  Your favorite colors are red, white, and blue, but you don't want to move to the US.

    2)  You would really hate to throw out that Union Jack tea cozy.

    3) The thought that both the United Kingdom would be divided and the "Great" would be taken away from Britain if the whole place split up is simply too depressing.

    4)  The Queen is a pleasant looking, grandmotherly woman who looks a lot like your aunt.
