4 star cruise on the nile...dress?

as a female, can I wear shorts through the day? (to settle a dispute, thanks)

Yes you can on the boat.If you go on any of the temple trips or trips on land take plenty of water(check seals on bottle top) something to cover your shoulders and head as it gets really hot.Be prepared to be harrased once you leave the boat and if you buy anything be aware you will be asked for a kiss or money(claim it's for luck).Some cruises have theme nights if you want to join in the guides take you to shops where you can buy what you need.Also be aware that at the end of the trip the guides expect a tip of 10 to 15%.

You can on the boat and during the day on the escorted excursions, the guide will make sure that you are not bothered, but if you are exploring without the guide here is some advice from the link below.

"Egypt is a Muslim country and unless you are looking to offend, please dress conservatively. When visiting churches and mosques men should not wear shorts and women should not wear shorts, mini-skirts or tank tops. In fact it is inadvisable for women to wear anything short or sleeveless unless on the beach or by a pool. It will save you some unwanted attention."
