  1. If your first 4 exams aren't going well, you need to step back, figure out what kind of grades you have to make on everything you've got left that will be turned in for credit, and assess whether you're going to be able to achieve those grades in your class. If you deem that you're not going to be able to make the passing grades, then you might consider dropping and retaking the class. There's no shame in it - just about everyone has had a class that they had to try more than once (but not more than twice!!). I dropped a math class because I took 2 tests, failed 'em, and the 3rd test was totally Greek to me. I dropped the class the day of the 3rd test, when I didn't understand a little tiny bit of it.
