4 weeks late, neg. tests, could stopping birth control be the cause?

I was on Loestrin 24 for two months then switched to the generic, microgestin. I became sexually active and when it came time to take the placebo pills there was no period. So i stopped taking the birth control and now I'm 4 weeks late (about 2 days late for the next period) and all tests have read negative. I have been stressed (new job, starting school) but I don't think that would cause me to be this late. The only symptoms I've had is an increase in discharge, tiredness, and gas. I experienced nausea before I was late for my period but that hasn't reoccurred. Could I be pregnant?

  1. switching pill and stopping pills will effect your cycle, so will stress.

If preg tests are coming up neg still, i doubt you are pregnant. give your body a chance to adjust, or go see your doctor and request a blood test.

  2. It could definitely be the birth contol that's causing the change...sometimes it takes time for your body to adjust back to normal

  3. visit the doc

  4. I don't think you are pregnant. Stress (even when you don't think you are stressed) can cause late periods. And, of course, switching or getting off the pill will delay it a couple of weeks as your body adapts to new hormone levels. If you are really concerned, see a doctor.
