4 wheeler accident injurys.. are they okay?

3-4 days ago, I had a 4 wheeler accident.

I went down a steep hill and I turned too sharply and flipped the 4 wheeler on me.

I have a gash on my right inner leg, it is wide as a pop can tab (guess its an 8th inch deep) along with a bruse beside it and it's swollen.

My ankle/foot is swollen and a little below there are little bruses (red/pinkish color)

So overall I'm swollen all over my leg and I'm wondering..

-Are those ok signs?

-Should I get stiches? (Or if its too late?)

I am wanting to go to the doctor, I haven't yet..I want to see what your opinions are so I have an idea whats going on.

  1. You should see a doctor!  Infection is a serious side affect of outdoor injuries.  It my not need stitches, but since Staph infections are such a common, but serious problem, you may need antibiotics.  Staph can be fatal left unattended.

As for 4 wheeler accidents, my nephew was killed on a 4 wheeler  Dec. 1st., 2007.  He had been riding them for years and never had an accident of any sort on them.  But one evening while riding with friends, he lost control and it flipped him off, slamming him chest first into a utility pole.  It exploded his heart among other injures.  But the heart was enough to end his life.  So, just a word of caution, please be careful from here on out. Many lives have been lost due to 4 wheeler accidents.    And go ahead and see your Dr.  It couldn't hurt.

  2. Get some hydrogen peroxide pour it over your cuts.....it will get rid of infection if there is any. Put a bandaid over your cut during the day bandaid plus antibiotic from the bandaid brand are the best. Keep your foot elevated and put a bag of ice on it. For swelling take ibuprofen....make sure your not allergic  It's probably too late for stitches. Go to the doctor.

  3. Ok you seriously need to go see a doctor. What if you tore or perhaps broke something that you dont know about? Your cut can also get infected if not properly cleaned out. So ya my advice to you is take yourself to the doctor asap. The biggest thing to worry about in my opinion is infection of that gash you have.

  4. You should be fine, ive had accidents, but i have never flipped a four wheeler before, i had mine checked by a doctor though. You should be ok, but if ur doubtful, consult a doctor.

  5.   It may be to late for stitches because the cut has already been prone to germs, but you should still go in if it is that big!  And the bruseing could maybe a sprain or brake!  A sprain is where you have slight tares in the mussle tissue.  You should deffintally get it checked out if the swelling hasn't gone down!  Keep the swelling wraped with ace, it may not sound like alot but the pressure the ace puts on it will help with the swelling.  I hope this helps and you heal soon!

  6. infection. loss of leg

    hum, how about doctor now

  7. You need to go to the doctor and get an x-ray, rather be safe than sorry!!! If you do have something broken or torn you are only doing more damage by walking on it! Take it from some one who knows( I walked around with a cracked kneecap and torn ACL)

  8. you should probably go to the doctor but you can by butterfly stitches at rite aid and most pharmacy's you should get some neosporin they make the kind with pain killer treat your brusing like a sprain a ace bandage should do it just be sure to keep it clean you are probably fine definatly get some neosporin

  9. you definitely need to see a doctor, for most of the reasons stated by all the others; also, you need a tetanus shot unless you've had one lately

  10. What are doctors for lol
