hello.

My niece woke up a few days ago with her left eye swollen almost shut. She was brought to teh hospital and the doctor's prescribed benadryl assuming it was a reaction to some sort of bug bite. They advised us to bring her back teh next day if it didn't get significantly better. It didn't get better, in fact, it looks worse. the poor thing is in pain now, there is no fever or any other symptoms but I'm starting to panic.

Does this sound familiar to anyone?

  1. Take the advice of the dr and take her to her family dr or back to the hospital to have it checked if she is complaining of pain. Is there any redness or drainage from the eye?  Could be that she has a sty and I know that there is something that could be prescribed to help with the swelling besides benadryl. Also do not let her rub the  eye as this will only complicate matters especially if there is a foreign object imbedded into the cornea.

  2. She could have a small scratch on her eye ball that is not visible to the human eye. Or it could be and infection. Hope this helps

  3. could also be pink eye.. everyone reacts to it differently.. but my advice is to take her back to the doctors

  4. A bug bite was my first thought.  She must be allergic to that kind of bug.

It is hard to put any medicine on anything by the eye, unless it is a prescription.

I would spray the yard down and let it dry well before she plays out.
