How long do I have to have that SR-22 filling for my insurance, in order to recieve coverage? And after I do not have to have the SR-22 filling, how much will my insurance go down if at all? (taking into consideration no violations during that time)

  1. I'm assuming you have your license back and you are just asking about the sr-22.  all states are different.  4 years is not out of the realm of possibility

  2. hi Jacob, 4 years ago is a long time to wait to get your drivers license back.  if you've already paid your fines just shop around for insurance.   you won't be able to get your license back until you've paid your fines or are working it out with the court to get it paid back. depending on what state you're in and if this is your first offense or not, it can be somewhere from 1 to 3years at most.

what is an sr22 filing? an sr22 filing is just a certificate that you have insurance.

all states require that everyone has to have insurance to be legal on the road. they typically don't have to prove it unless they get pulled over, but in your case the dmv want your insurance filed with them inorder for them to issue you a drivers licnese . when you purchase an insurance policy the insurance has to issue u a certificate that you have insurance.

when does your insurance go down? if you don't have any other tickets you should see a decrease in your insurance rates after 3 years of keeping your license active.( if you cancel your insurance within your probational period, they will suspend your license again and the 3 years starts all over again the day you get your license back until your probational period is over.)

in your case you might just need to show them  your sr 22 at the beginning to get your license back because your probational period is  more than likely over. ( but check with them first.)

  3. 10 years in state of confusion you seem to be in. Disclose state that pulled license and statute.  Did you just get pulled over and not have proof of insurance or did you cause a cash and found liable for injuries that you didn't have insurance to cover and haven't paid?  A bit of clarification needed here. Implication in your question - 4 years- seems to be you were liable for some damages.

  4. an sr22 filing fee is normally between 15 and 20 dollars.
