4 yr old with a eye infection?!?

The last week my sons eyes turned pink/red we took him to the first dr and she said it was allergies, but I had a feeling that it was an infection so the next couple of days we followed her directions and gave him his eye drops and there was no change with his eyes, so we went back and saw another dr and he said it was an infection ( i dont know if its pink eye he never said anything) so my son has been on antibiotics for 3 days now with no change again, now the dr told me to put 2 drops in each eye and the pharmacist said only one drop in each eye, should I follow the doctors directions or the pharmacist??

when ever ive had pink eye i do 2 drops just in case. it should clear up within a couple days, but its very contagious.
