Can it play PS2 games and which ones or all of them? We have Resident Evil series, Silent Hill series, Driver series, Legacy of Kain series, God of War, and a library of others and I was curious to know if any of these will work in the 40 GB PS3.

  1. The 40GB PS3 CAN'T play PS2 games. Sony will not release anymore backwards compatible PS3's. Sony is trying to shift the focus on the PS3 and they are not focusing on backwards compatibility

  2. NOPE Sony trying to focus on the playstation3 which is costing them millions

  3. nop, you can  play only ps3 games with ur console

  4. No, but the 80 gigabyte has about 70-80% backwards compatibility(it can play PS2/PS1 games) in the long run you would be saving more money with the 80 gig which I have. Get the Metal Gear Solid 4 bundle it is a great game and an exceptional package.

  5. Sony stopped making the 40GB and they've released a new 80GB  which is NOT backwards compatible and only has 2 USB ports.  Word has it that they're gonna stop selling the current 80GB, which is largely backwards compatible (it won't play all PS2/1 games, but it will play a lot of them.)  I would recommend buying the Metal Gear Solid Edition while it's still available, which is generally $499, only 100 dollars more than the new 80 GB.

  6. No you cant play ps2 games but however you can play ps1 games idk why but it just does
