Question:

400 m question? what should my time be

i was practcing running the first 300m of a 400m today. i ran them 4 times. race pace and i came out with a time of 42 seconds. what should my 400m time be.. i wasnt tht much tired at all.

and im 15 5"11, 157 lbs..

and my 100m time is 11.5 if tht helps

  1. i don't agree that you can extrapolate but I would guess 56


  2. I'd say 55 to 56 but might be a little better than that. That last 100 meters is when it gets tough. Hope I'm wrong and you do even better. Good luck

  3. that's pretty slow for someone who runs 11.5..You're probably around high 53-57..maybe a i'd guess 55-56 though, but who knows, in practice you dont have the adrenaline rush that is always X-Factor.

    But it sounds like you could be a lot better with some work with your endurance. I feel with some practice 51-52 is very do able with 11.5 speed

    oh man..didnt read that part about you feeling like it was easy..in that case i'd reckon  you're about 50-51 ish possibly high 49's ..possibly...But what's your coach thinking?..42? that's like an 800 race pace not 400!

  4. I think you should be expecting about 50-53.  Considering you did 4x300s at practice and came out with 42.  (14sec per 100).  You'd probably be able to run a bit quicker in just one full-out 400.
