400 time??

Question

i was wondering what a good time for getting a scholar ship for college based on running the 400m in track. the first time i ran the 400m was in 7th grade and i ran it in 63 seconds. now i am in the 11th grade and i run it in 54 seconds, if anyone can tell me how much i have to cut it down to have colleges give my a scholar ship

umm im a soph. and i run it in 52.87...prolly like a 47-49

i would say 46 low i go to cif every year for the 100m and i watch them run

yeah 48 sec to sub 50 sec. thats my goal right now. dude im in the same boat as you. im going to be a junior this year and my best 400 time was 53.8.  i plan on running low 50s by the end of the summer and low 47s by the end of next spring. i got big goals but i can do it. if you need encouragement just email me. we can even challenge each other on a weekly basis!

a sub 50 will get u a decent school

but if u want a div 1 school u need like a 48 or 47 (at least in california)

You would do really good to get into state, and win it. That is probably the best way to do it. This could be done by getting 48-50 seconds on your 400m.

You need to work on your short and your long distance. You should be doing sprint/walks (100m/100m? maybe 200m?) and doing this for a long time. (.5 mile?) You should also practice your event daily.



And then you should also work on your long distance, you should know what you can stand, just keep on gaining distance.

go for a 46,  because that may get you into a d2 or d3 school
