401k question about vesting?

401K with a 4% company match (where company match is fully vested immediately)

does this mean that whatever amount of money the company matches is mine right away? meaning I don't have to go by those vesting schedules where you work 1 year and get 20% yada yada

Yes.  Many companies used to have a 5 year vesting plan for company matching money.

I hope you are contributing at least 4%...that is free money for your retirement.
