Question:

40th Birthday Party Menu Ideas:?

Next year I’m having a Black & White 40th Birthday party celebration @ the Hilton. I really don’t want to get into serving dinner; so I opt to choosing H’ordouves. It’ll be cheaper and will allow for an open bar for my guest.

So far I have chosen Fruit & Cheese display for the first 1 ½.

On the menu I have

1. Meatballs (my choice of bbq, teriyaki or sweet & sour sauce)

2. Fried green beans w/ wasabi mayo

3. vegetable display w/ pepper parmesan dip

4. mini vegetable egg rolls w/ Asian dippin sauce

5. Boneless chicken wings tossed in buffalo sauce.

6. Chicken tenders

Seems like I have too much meat…your thoughts or other ideas on what I can ask the chef to create or take away?? I thought of maybe a pasta salad or rice…your thoughts?

  1. Can i go to your party YUMMY

What about mini sanwiches (tuna salad, or just lunch meat)

there are also mini cheesecake squares (very good)

  2. Wow!  Sounds like a great party!  I'm not sure what dishes to suggest, but since you are having an open bar, I would suggest you add some items that will help soak up the alcohol.  Things like bread or rolls or potatoes or all of the above?  Pasta or rice could be good too, but doesn't seem like it matches the menu much...so I would go with small sandwiches or stuffed potato skins...something along those lines and several of them, even if you have to lose a meat or two?

  3. I wouldn't say you have too much meat, but what I'm seeing is that you are a little light on starchy foods and you have a lot of hot stuff.  By that I mean spicy food.  Maybe I'm just sensitive to that because I don't like anything spicy, but I'd have trouble eating at your party.  Your green beans have wasabi, the vegetable has pepper dip, the chicken wings have buffalo sauce, and I would be leery of the Asian dipping sauce on the eggrolls, too.  Maybe cut out one of those and go for something a little milder like potato skins or mini quiches or bruschetta or some kind of a little cheesy pastry puff thing.

  4. Crab Dip

    Spinach and Artichoke Dip

    Sushi Rolls

    Seared Tuna

    Watermelon cubes topped with feta

    Cucumber sandwiches

  5. stuffed mushrooms! so simple and absolutely yummy... use the smaller sized mushrooms, pop out the stems, and fill them with alouette garlic and herb cheese, top with a sprinkle of bread crumbs and bake at 375 for 10 - 15 minutes, or until starting to brown and get kinda bubbly hot.

  6. Here's some ideas:

    Tomato Brushcetta

    Shrimp Cocktail

Fruit Dip and big platter of fruit

Veggie Dip and big platter of veggies

    Spinach Dip and Pita Chips

Baked Potatoe Skins topped with bacon bits, cheese, sour cream, and green onions

    Good Luck and Happy Eating!

  7. Salsa and chips

    Celery sticks and peanut butter

    Banana shakes

    Hummus and raw veggies

  8. Maybe change the chicken tenders to giant shrimp with cocktail sauce, or small portions of salmon with dill sauce....

The fried green beans sound a little strange.  Tempura vegetables might be a better choice there....

You might want the chicken wings in something other than Buffalo sauce, since the other dishes have more of an Asian theme.  Maybe do the meatballs in sweet & sour sauce, and do teriyaki chicken wings....

A rice salad might be nice, with an Asian flair to it......

  9. I agree with the poster above...those are great ideas, especially the shrimp cocktail and bruschetta!  yummy
