40th birthday Surprise party.?

Okay I am having a surprise party and would like unique table decorations or serving suggestions. Any ideas are helpful.

Well...summer's coming....you can get large glass jars...pour some sand into them,  stick candles into that, and put some decorative shells in the sand.  Any craft store would have all the materials for you.  You can also get inexpensive beach style serving dishes at a party store.  If you are having this party at a club and your guests are going to be dancing....a cute idea would be to have baskets of cheap flip flop style sandals at the edge of the dance floor.  This was done at a wedding I recently attended...all the girls feet started hurting after awhile, and it's better than dancing barefoot. Makes a cute take home souvenir, too.
