42" or 46" flat screen?

The farthest seat will be about 9' away? "I hear in order to really enjoy a flat screen the sitting distance is important.

Either size should be fine.  We've got a 46" and love the view from about 11' away.  At 9', it's all about your budget and how much room you've got.  You'll probably be happier with a higher-end 42" than a lower-end 46" too, so factor that in.
