Question:

420 dollars for a Motherboard?

The motherboard went on one of my laptops. I sent it to the company. They fixed it. I got a bill for 420 dollars to fix the motherboard. I paid 1600 or more for the computer when I bought it.

Does it usually cost that much to replace a motherboard?

  1. If it's just for the part, it's a bit high.  If it's the total bill - motherboard, labor, shipping back to you, it's about normal.  Opening some laptops is about as simple as opening your mouth - on others it's close to brain surgery.  (I have a laptop that's been on the shelf for about a year because a little $2 part [that the manufacturer charges $25 for] got disconnected from the motherboard.  I can solder it back on in about 3 minutes, but it looks as if I'll never be able to put the laptop back together once I do that unless I can find a shop manual, so I bought a new laptop.)

  2. 420 Dollars would sound about right for a good quality motherboard as-new. I'd question the company charging that much for a new motherboard though (remember they may have included service charges if it was out of warranty)

  3. check ur mother board type and enquire abt its price for new first

and if ur laptop was not within warranty ,it was much better u dispose it off than spend 420 more

a  good high end notebook is available for as little as 600  today brand new !

refurbished and used machine deals r shockingly lower
