  1. 4(3-6x)-6(x-2)=66

    12-24x-6x+12=66

    -24x-6x+12+12=66

    simplify

    -30x+24=66

    seprate the x'es from the real numbers

    -30x=66-24

    -30x=42

    find the value of x

    x=42/-30

    x=-1.4

    to prove this (not essential)

    -30x+24=66

    now that we know x is -1.4

    subsitute -1.4 in place of x

    -30(-1.4)+24=66

    44+24=66

    66=66

    =>QED

  2. 12-24x-6x+12=66

    24-30x=66

    -30x=42

    x= -42/30=  -1.4

  3. 12 - 24x -6x + 12 = 66

    24 - 30x=66

    -30x = 66 - 24

    -30x = 42

    -x = 42 / 30

    -x = 14/10

    -x = 7/5

    x= -7/5
