45th Wedding Anniversary Party Ideas?

on 9th August we are holding a party for my parents 45th wedding anniversary. My hubby and bro are cooking a 12 course sit down meal, and I'm in chrage of the table setting/decorations/cake/ room decorations.

I have the normal ideas about balloons etc but am looking for something a lil different but still afordable. I'm in the UK and the theme is obviously saphire, so I'm keeping it to blues, whites and maybe some lighter chades of pinky purples.

Does anyone have any flower/balloon/any ideas??

I planned myself my parents 40th wedding anniversary..though it was held in a hotel in California but..i took charge of flowers..each table has a vase of dozen colored blue and white carnations and put 1 pink lily in the middle..for me balloons' out of the question..and under one of the chairs for each table i taped a white paper and whoever sit on that particular chair will get the center table flowers as the party finished..Good luck!!
