4850 on a 4 pin PSU?

my PSU only has 4 pin connectors... I'm thinking about buying a sapphire HD4850 which has a 6 pin power slot. ive heard about those 2x4 pin to 6 pin molex cable converter... i'd like to know if they work well and if there are any drawbacks on using one.

any help and advices are appreciated!

It's not a problem, to use 2->Four pin Molex connectors, adapted to a Six pin PCI-Express power connector.

Plus have a 450 watt power supply at least. This card indicates it's power requirement is 75 watts. A 100 watt light bulb that uses 120 volts, requires more power than this card! (I just answered a similar question about 10 minutes ago. Amps times volts=watts. Watts divided by volts=Amps. This card requires 5/8th's of an AMP! {.625 Amps} Pretty sure a 450 watt power supply has at least a ONE AMP 12volt power rail!) (More like at least a 12 Amp->12v power rail!)

uhh, usually the 4pin goes to the CPU, so maybe you mixed something up and accidentaly used a 6pin on the CPU power connectors. Just make sure that isn't the case.

Yeah if you have two molex connectors i really dont know waht their called, you can make a 6 pcie. If you dont have enough POWER thats a different story, but if its a reliable brand you can go higher than recommended.
