OK so yesterday i got a 49cc Super Pocket Bike from my older cousin. it had bad gas so i drained the gas out and mixed some new stuff (fuel ratio 20:1) its a 2 stroke. i got it started for a sec but then it died and i tried to pull start it again but the rope wouldn't budge. and the back wheel wont move because the chain is being pulled tight from being in gear. i need some kind of help please i have no idea what to do. there is a R6 Symbol kind of thing on the side. please tell me something that's worth listening to.

  1. Those bikes usually have Only a "single speed",,,

    no real transmission.

They use a Centrifugal Clutch,,,making them a sorta automatic.

The Clutch releases at Idle speed,,,then as engine revs faster  up from Idle,,,the Clutch grabs increasingly tighter to drive the bike.

So if the  engine & rear wheel appear to be "In Gear",,solidly connected......there's 2 possibilities.

The REAL BAD ONE is,,,engine may be frozen/locked up.

    Check it like this>>>>

    *Remove Spark Plug

    * Try to push the bike and see if pushing it will turn engine over

*OR,,jack up back wheel Off the Ground,,,and pull the starter rope,

See if that will turn the engine over,,,which would also be turning the back wheel---because it "stuck in gear" Bothe engine & rear wheel will turn at same time.

    Like direct drive.

If Doing either of the above WILL turn the engine over,,,then Engine is NOT Locked UP.

If it Dont,,,then Engine IS locked up.

    Thats Bad news.

But they are usually Not expensive or difficult to rebuild.

    .........................................

    2nd Possibility.

If You Can get the engine to turn over  in the above mentioned "test".....

Then it almost MUST be that The CLUCTH is locked up.

Thats a Good Possibility,,,they are tiny and take a lotta abuse.

They're real easy to take apart.

You have to remove any covers or brackets so You can get to the side of the engine where the Chain goes.

Chain goes Directly on the Clutch

Here's some pictures of how they GENERALLY go.

Your's may be a bit different,,,but this is close enough to help you figure most of it out easy enough

The bike Pictured has a NUT holding the clutch on.

Yours probably has a BOLT that screws into end of engine crankshaft.

The center bolt in the Clutch is TIGHT,,,they usually are installed with LocTite thread lock compound.

*Give the bolt head a moderate smack with a hammer,,,straight in toward motor,,like you're "nailing it in".

    That helps loosen the bond.

( ***** IF yours has a NUT,,DO NOT Hit it)

*And use ONLY a 6 point Socket on that bolt ,,,a 12 point one will just round off the head.

It's all pretty simple when ya get into it and see how it all goes.

    .........................................

Several things can make those clutches lock up.

    Bad Bearing

    Broken Spring

Shoe's friction material cam apart & is wedged in there

Various pieces broke off and are wedged

    Etc,Etc.

You'll Know it when you see it

If You are any good at all at working on stuff,,You'll find it is pretty simple and easy.

If You're not too much of a Nutsy-Boltsy type person,,,,any of your friends who are can help you.

It's NOT real complicated stuff that takes any extreme skills.

    Ya cant hardly go wrong.

Usually,,it cheaper & easier  and SAFER to just buy  a whole new clutch

****!!!!! Do NOT try to start the engine while the clutch is apart.

Pieces WILL go flying,,like a Hand Grenade.

NOT as funny as it sounds.

If Right piece hits you in right spot,,,it can Kill you.

    Serious as can be.

    Usually about $15~20 on Ebay

Good Luck,,hope it's nothing terrible wrong.
