49ers’ Frank Gore back to practice, hopes to play against Cardinals – NFL News
San Francisco 49ers’ star running back Frank Gore returned to practice session on Thursday after recovering from an injury and said that he is hopeful to take on Arizona Cardinals in the week 11 game of the National Football League
current season on Sunday.
In the week 10 game against New York Giants, Gore started the play carrying a sprained left ankle. He left that match in the second quarter after injuring his right knee. 49ers won that match 27-20.
The good news for 49ers that are leading the National Football Conference West division and are placed at the second spot in the league ranking is that the running back is now fit enough and ready to face Cardinals. 49ers have
an average of 310.4 yards (179.6 yards and 130.9 yards) per game this season and Gore wants to improve this record further.
“I want to be out there bad," he said. "I'll play. I'll play good."
Gore has played all the nine games this season and has five touchdowns. As per his current statistics, he holds an average of 4.7 yards per carry and has managed 782 yards on 165 carries. He started his professional career with
49ers in the year 2005 and has a total of 7,196 rushing yards. The late Hall of Famer Joe Perry holds the franchise record for most rushing yards and Gore needs only 149 more yards to beat him.
Earlier when Gore’s injury report was brought up, 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh maintained that the player would be a part of starting line-up against Cardinals. Gore did not practise on Wednesday, but the coach was still sure
that the player could make it. However, he was satisfied with the current backup the team has got and said that if Gore needs time to recover, he can do so.
“I would plan on (Gore) playing, but you just feel right now, well, we’ve got a stable of backs,” the coach said. “You know, we’ve got Frank Gore. We’ve got Kendall Hunter. We’ve got fresh legs in Anthony Dixon. This bodes very
well for our team.”
49ers have a seven-game winning streak at their back as they enter the week 11, and Frank Gore is satisfied with the team’s current performance.
"Since we got on a roll, we've just been running the ball successfully," Gore said. "Everybody's been trying to stop it."
