49ers eye NFC West title as they face Rams on Sunday – NFL Week 13 Preview
One more victory and San Francisco 49ers will make it to the playoffs. And don’t forget the title of the National Football Conference West division! The week 13 encounter of the National Football League current season on Sunday
could prove be the glorious day the 49ers have longed for since a long time. At the Candlestick Park, they will host hapless St. Louis Rams that have nothing to lose now as they are already out of the race with nine defeats this season.
49ers’ coach Jim Harbaugh has warned his players against getting complacent, and told them to focus on the game. He thinks that underestimating the opponent is not an act that deserves applause.
"It's a big deal. It's a step. We may be ahead on the chip count, but we don't have a seat at the final table," he said. "We need to focus on this game. We need to do everything we can to physically, mentally, emotionally prepare
for this game because we know that the St. Louis Rams will be doing the same thing."
49ers’ running back Frank Gore could also have his moments on Sunday. He needs only 22 more rushing yards to become the top rusher in the history of the franchise. At present, the record is held by Joe Perry with 7,344 yards.
Rams are dejected, miserable and hopeless, but the good thing is that they know it all and are ready to move on.
Rams’ coach Steve Spagnuolo is not worrying about the failures that have hindered the progress of his team and thinks that the players have tried their best to play well.
As they face 49ers, Rams have something to cheer about. They have got Steve Jackson as their running back who would desperately look to beat the powerful 49ers’ defence, again. He did it last year as well when he scored a rushing
touchdown against them. The 49ers’ defensive line has never since allowed any running back to score such a touchdown.
Jackson is ready to repeat his heroics, but knows that the encounter is going to be a tough one.
“I’m not coming in expecting anything different. If anything, I am the last guy to score a running touchdown against them so I am expecting more. That’s the mindset I have going into Sunday,” Jackson said.
