The instructions say it can use anything from 128 MB – 8 GB so it’s not too much. Also the card works in my computer. I even tried reformatting it and still nothing Again it displays this “Not Supported Card”

Oh yeah and the camera works just fine with the 512 card it came with.

  1. There are two possibilities.

Recently, the SD format was split into regular "SD" and new "SDHC" format cards. They look the same, but because SD cards have memory addressed by the byte, with a 32-bit address, the limit on card size is 4GB. SDHC cards are block addressed (like Hard Disc Drives), and can be much larger... but they don't work in SD-only devices.

However, there can be 4GB cards in both the SD and SDHC families. However, the original SD specs only called for SD cards up to 2GB. So some devices don't know what to do with a 4GB SD card... so they ignore it, reset it, given it up, etc.

The other possibility is that your 4GB card is too slow. All of the video SD camcorders need fairly fast flash cards, but in particularly high-def camcorders. Most specifiy a Class 6 SDHC card (classes are based on speed). Regular SD cards didn't have standard speed grades in this way, so you never really knew if they'd work at all or not. That might be another reason to reject the card.
